We have nine daytime courses and four evening ones. Scroll down this page for more information.
Only full members are allowed to book courses. You can become a member in our store. If the course is showing fully booked and you wish to be added to the waiting list or you need more information then please email Lisa on: workshops@stratforduponavonartsociety.co.uk
The Society organises a couple of 'studio time' sessions, where members come together to meet, create, share inspiration and help each other. There are also classes run by some of our members - some of which can be purchased through our store and others that are joined by contacting the artist directly.

Daytime Classes & Studio Time

This is an opportunity to paint the figure from life with other experienced artists. The model will keep the same pose for the whole session, with a break for refreshments, giving you a chance to complete a painting or carry out several shorter studies as you wish.
The models are managed and arranged by Julie Swinsco.

This course is a friendly, relaxed session designed for all levels, from beginners to experienced artists looking to improve their art by studying the human form. Please bring your own materials. You can use any medium. We regularly have members drawing, using inks, water colours, pastels and oil paints. The session will start with one or two quick poses, to get us warmed up and then progress into longer poses where you can get more detailed.
Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.

This is a friendly, social group of mainly experienced painters. Angela is a superb artist who is brilliant at helping others to improve their own work. She is full of technical advice and also advises how you can improve your compositions and the impact of your art work. You can work in any medium. Bring your own materials.

This is a friendly session, suitable for all ability levels. Bring whatever you wish to work on, and your own materials. There are plenty of other artists, using many different media. We give each other company, ideas, encouragement and constructive feedback. Refreshments are not provided, but please bring your own mug.

In this popular class, Keith will provide projects designed to teach new techniques and concepts. Your skills will build throughout the sessions, giving you the confidence to tackle your own art. You are also welcome to bring your own work to be mentored by Keith. While most sessions focus on watercolor, there will also be sessions for acrylics and pastels. Please bring your own materials. Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.

This course is designed for all levels, from beginners to experienced artists looking to work on their own projects with expert advice. Popi has been a professional artist for many years with teaching experience in Greece and the UK. Please bring your own projects and equipment - any medium is fine. Popi can also give you short exercises to work on particular technical aspects of your work. Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.

Keith and Popi will be alternating weeks to lead this class. They will provide objects for still life compositions, and you are encouraged to work from life to develop your own unique style. While most participants use oil paints, you are welcome to use other mediums if you prefer. Please bring your own art materials. Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.

Kathryn is excited to announce a new class for improvers, focusing on watercolor techniques for painting plants and flowers. Building on her years of experience teaching beginners, this course is designed to help you further develop your skills. The sessions will include short demonstrations and provided reference materials, followed by one-on-one guidance as you work through your projects. You are also welcome to bring your own reference materials, and Kathryn will mentor you in using them to create impactful watercolor pieces. Please remember to bring your own art materials. Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.

We have a regular group of friendly and diverse artists who meet for company, creative ideas, and constructive feedback. Evening Classes & Studio Time

Suitable for beginners and improvers. These sessions offer a supportive space for all skill levels to develop drawing and critical thinking skills. Each session features two hours of life drawing from a live model with mixed poses, followed by group sharing and feedback.
Easels and drawing boards are provided, but please bring your own materials. Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.

Andrew has done extensive research of Impressionism and will guide you through the origins, exploring artists materials and techniques, whilst creating your own impressionist pictures based on their work.
Please bring your own art materials. When you have signed up, Andrew will provide you with a suggested list of materials. Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.

This course can be tailored for both beginners and artists who wish to develop their knowedge and skills further to evolve their own artistic style. Julie will provide short demonstrations on a variety of techniques including drawing and working with many different mediums. She will also give one to one mentoring support. Bring your own art equipment and a material for the project you wish to tackle. Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.
Although this course is on a Thursday, it will not run on dates when the Art Society has live demonstration meetings.

Suitable for beginners and improvers. A practical, confidence-building course exploring watercolour painting. Each week includes a short tutor demonstration and guided exercises covering essential techniques such as washes, colour mixing , texture effects and brushwork. You’ll have plenty of supported studio time to develop your own painting, with individual feedback throughout.
Please bring your own art materials. When you have signed up, Katherine will provide you with a suggested list of materials. Refreshments are provided, but please bring your own mug.
Studio Art Club
Meet to paint at Luddington Village Hall
Have you ever thought that you might take up painting? Come see our informal and sociable group. Everyone Welcome!
Come and try the Studio Art Club at Luddington Village Hall. We are a friendly, enthusiastic group who meet two days a week at Luddington Village Hall, we chat, drink tea and coffee and also try to be creative with the support of our artist buddies.
Monday: 10.00 -15.00 - General painting. (Come anytime and stay as long as you like.)
Thursday: 10.00 - 12.00 - Portrait Session with a live model.
Thursday: 12.00 - 15.00 - General Painting Session
There is Free Parking available, Tea and Coffee making facilities and lots of laughs to be had.
