In this workshop we will reproduce
'The Fighting Temeraire'. Oil on canvas 36”x48” Painted: 1839
Peter has done extensive research and preparation for this workshop so that we can attempt to reproduce Turner’s masterpiece using the techniques he would have employed. Peter gives short demonstrations followed by 1:1 guidance and support. His workshops always book up quickly so book early to avoid disappointment.
Refreshments will be provided but please bring your own lunch and mug.
Materials you will need to bring:
Acrylic primed surface 12”x16” primed board, canvas or paper (bigger if you want to)
Acrylic or gouache paint: White, red, yellow, blue plus others you may have.
Oil paint: A selection of the primary colours plus others you have.
Liquin as a medium. Low odour thinners.
Palette. Plastic, paper or wood.
A selection of oil brushes and acrylic/ gouache brushes.
Jar for water and one for thinners.
Paper towel.
If you draw the basic scene before you arrive it will help.
Week one: With water based paint confirm drawing. Laying in the foundations. Texture, colour etc.
Week two: Oil out and then work on top of the base with oil paint, in a watercolour way.
Week three: Using oil paint finishing and final details.
