Product Details

The focus of this oil painting workshop is to learn how to paint a landscape with a loose, impressionistic approach. The workshop will start with a demonstration, working on a small scale and learning how to prepare the surface, the colour palette and colour mixing as well how to apply paint to achieve a range of different marks. Following on from the demonstration there will be an opportunity to explore your own approach with one to one guidance and advice provided throughout the day. As confidence builds another demonstration will follow and the scale of your work will increase with the emphasis on keeping your paintings fresh and loose and intuitive. Reference material will be provided as a starting point although you may wish to work from your own images. The aim of the workshop is to teach about creating effective composition, colour mixing using a restrictive palette, how to handle the brush to achieve a range of unique and interesting marks, working from fat over lean to create a successful oil painting.
